You’ve probably heard people say if you don’t like the weather in Kansas, wait until tomorrow. This is a bit of an overstatement, but Kansas can have pretty big temperature swings, sometimes from one day to the next. What drives the weather here? Why do we get so many tornadoes? What adaptations do native plants have for surviving in our highly variable seasons, and what happens when you remove them?
In this SciFun day camp, we’ll conduct experiments to show how and why clouds form and the weather they produce. We will also see how the weather and climate affect the land, and what people can do to protect both natural habitats and neighborhoods from damaging weather events.
For elementary and middle school age learners.
