What is your mission and why is it important?
Our mission is to provide and serve a more diverse population of students access to holistic STEAM education, thus unlocking opportunities for higher learning and future STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) careers. As University of Washington president Ana Cauce pointed out, it’s crucial for women and underrepresented minorities to get access to this kind of education early.
What do you do on the ground to make your mission happen?
The Museum at Prairiefire facilitates activities for schools in need, such as STEAM educational field trips, professional development opportunities for educators, family outings, camps, programs, and project-based learning.
How is the Museum at Prairiefire involved with KCUA?
The Museum at Prairiefire administrates and funds the development and implementation of KCUA programming, resources, and partnerships to provide comprehensive, world-class STEAM experiences for students and educators throughout the greater Kansas City Metro where resources are scarce.

Together with support from our GLOBAL STEM EDUCATION PARTNER Black & Veatch, KC Urban Advantage has provided significant access to holistic educational experiences that unlock opportunities for higher learning and future STEM careers.
