Join us from Noon to 4 pm as we celebrate Junkanoo! The greatest Junkanoo ceremony takes place on Bay Street in downtown Nassau, although Bahamians from all 16 islands participate in this joyous Bahamian culture custom. It is thought to have originated in The Bahamas, but it is also claimed by several other islands in the English-speaking Caribbean. However, evidence suggests that Jankunu originated in Jamaica and spread throughout the Caribbean as early as the 18th century, if not earlier. Despite having the same roots, each festival has been localized by different countries and has developed to be somewhat different over time.. It is celebrated with a festival of dancing. We will have fun Paper Bag Hat craft for the young and young at heart as well as Origami with Archie and face painters!
