In this talk Dr. Matsunaga will introduce you to a remarkable family of tropical plants: the palms. These plants are beautiful, distinctive, and unexpectedly diverse, with an extensive fossil record and a penchant for setting botanical records. She studys the evolutionary history and fossil record of this family and will take you on a brief journey through their past and present, and explain why Kansas was probably once home to these fascinating plants!
