We see birds throughout the year, but we tend to notice them most in spring because it's the time of year when many of them start singing.  New plants and flowers appear, and food becomes more plentiful for the birds.  Have you ever watched a bird hop along and wondered what kind of food it was after?  Do you think all birds will go after the same foods?  It turns out that the shape of a bird's beak can tell you a lot about its diet!  In this JAM, you have the option of making one of three types of feeders: one that will be filled with sunflower seeds, one with a mix of different kinds of seeds, and one with sugar water.  Take it home, try it out, and see what kinds of birds you can attract!

Class is at 10:15 am

PLEASE NOTE:

  • We require a 24 hour cancellation notice for Little Explorers Club and JAM Sessions reservations via emailing info@visitthemap.org. Please include the name on the reservation, number of students, date and time of the class.

  • Please help create an outstanding learning environment by limiting disruptions in the classroom!

  • Parents are, of course, always welcome to remain in class but should a parent choose to step out, we have provided a seating area just outside the classrooms. Parents and siblings are also welcome to explore our Discovery Room or the rest of the Museum until the class concludes.
