Since the start of civilization, people had to come up with ways to store water for the population. It is no coincidence that many of the world’s civilizations (and even most major cities today) have been located next to a water source, such as a major river or next to a port connected to the sea. Water is vital to life, and so is vital to a civilization’s survival. However, many people in developing countries around the world do not have access to a clean water source, and may have to travel for hours to drinkable water.
In this JAM session, you will think like aquatic engineers and come up with a way to bring water from a central source to smaller villages. You will build an aqueduct. The ancient Romans, though they didn’t invent the aqueduct, are famous aqueduct builders. In fact, some of their aqueducts still stand and continue to be in use today!
