Can you build a bridge out of pasta? Pasta comes in many shapes and sizes, including spaghetti, lasagna, macaroni, rotini, manicotti, linguini, and angel hair.  The variety of sizes and shapes makes pasta an ideal material for bridge building.

In this activity, you are an engineer and your job is to use the engineering design process to come up with a solution...how to span a gap with a sturdy bridge. Starting with a problem in mind, engineers ask a lot of questions to better understand the problem and then brainstorm different solutions that they can explore to see how well they meet the requirements of the problem.  Because a bridge can be built in so many different ways, you must decide what design will work best. Next, you can start building. Once you have it built, you can test it to see if it meets the requirements of the problem.  As you test it, you might find you need to change the design...and keep doing this until your design solves the problem!

Class is at 10:15 am

**NOTE: This is the same topic/class as the JAM Session on Thursday, September 9th**
